We have the following workshops prepared:
- Insight into Slavery
This workshop provides a new dimension to the traditional European perspective on the Transatlantic slave trade and challenges pupils understanding through an interactive quiz and the use of visual materials. The workshop reinforces aspects of the History, Geography and PHSE/Citizenship curriculum whilst developing a greater appreciation of the impact of slavery on contemporary UK society. - Climate Change
This interactive workshop explores the possible causes of climate change, it engages children in thinking about connections between the causes of climate change and their daily lives and encourages pupils to take actions that reduce their contribution to climate change. Download the information leaflet as a PDF here. - Challenging Perceptions of Africa
This interactive workshop focuses upon the use of photos, objects and personal testimonies from Ghana for pupils to learn more about some of the differences, similarities and interdependencies which exists between their lives and the lives of others in Africa. The workshop is delivered by a former headteacher from the Northern Region of Ghana, who has extensive experience of delivering classroom workshops in the UK. We can also provide more specific workshops to gain a deeper understanding of aspects of life in Ghana including; Ghanaian games, art and textiles, or tailor made workshops for other curriculum areas. - Global Citizenship
We also provide specialist 'Development Awareness' classroom workshops to enable pupils to develop a more in- depth understanding of development issues which affect our world today. Workshops can be tailored to suit all key stages and currently include; Water Issues, Education Exclusion and Fair Trade. The workshops fit well into the Citizenship Curriculum but also enhance literacy, numeracy and creative skills and link to Geography, PSHE, RE and History. - Global Voices
Global Voices are volunteers from other cultures (or with significant experience of life in different countries) who live locally and give workshops aimed at broadening pupils' understanding of their country. They may have specialist skills or knowledge on a range of global issues enhancing what children already learn in or outside the classroom.
